The DDQ Programme seeks to support all key stakeholders to improve the quality of design in the South Yorkshire Pathfinder.
These key stakeholders include:
- House Builders - Private Developers and Registered Social Landlords
- Local Authorities - Housing Strategy, Planning and Developments Control, house buyers and tenants.
The Challenge
The DDQ Design Quality Audit has revealed that 85% of the developments assessed in the audit using the Building For Life framework were either poor or average. Although this is not dissimilar to the national average, it indicates the scale of the task. Taken with government housing targets, and the slowdown in the housing market, delivering housing that is fit for purpose, robust and delightful requires concentrated creative focus.
