- Fabric performance: 33kWh/m²/yr (16% improvement on proposed 2016 level for mid terrace house)
- Meets CSH Level 4 and 5 for published unit costs
House Design Objectives
- One of the key aims has been to provide high quality space improving measures, namely:
Separate living, kitchen and dining rooms
No circulation through rooms
Layout allows for simple means to extend into roof space
The entrance hall adaptable for an en-suite or to connect the upper and lower floors effectively
Home office provision
All ground floor rooms to be accessible from a corridor
- Synchronizes well with on street car parking requirements – units roughly 6m wide
- Is cost-effective to build - designed to brick dimensions and is of appropriate size for panellised prefabrication
- Key views of external spaces and natural light penetration are encouraged from the front door and all ground floor habitable rooms have strong visual or physical link with gardens. Garden to be minimum 9m deep
- Windows to be generous and provide good levels of natural light - bathroom and landing are to have roof lights
- All rooms are to be spacious practical and orthogonal - kitchen and dining room may be separate or linked
