Matt Lally

Matt Lally BA (Hons) MA (Urb Des) MRTPI FRSA is a Director of Matrix Partnership and jointly runs the practice's London office.

An experienced urban designer and town planner by background, Matt has worked in both public and private sectors in the UK and overseas (particularly Asia and Africa). Matt's professional focus is on masterplanning and regeneration. Projects have varied in scale and typology - from new settlement planning and major town growth strategies, a wide variety of planning policy documents, through regeneration masterplanning, to individual site-based planning and design solutions.

Matt has over 15 years of urban design experience, with notable recent projects including the masterplanning of Woodberry Down in Hackney, the largest estate renewal in London and the awardwinning Devonport New Deal for Communities in Plymouth.

Matt has been responsible for several Government best practice research and guidance projects, such as the Urban Design Compendium and CABE/CLG design coding pilot programme. He is a member of the CABE Enabling Panel and Transform South Yorkshire Delivering Design Quality Enablers Panel. He has been a visiting tutor in urban design at The Bartlett, University College London. Matt is a Fellow of the RSA.
