Kenneth Wood

Ken’s experience covers the whole development process, from initial inception, through site acquisition and design development, to the delivery of the construction project and handover. Having worked for 10-years at one of the largest national Housing Associations, Ken has hands on experience of structuring and delivering development and construction projects including forming supply chains, contract preparation and procurement and methods of partnering.

Why Ken?

Ken has been involved in the business investment and strategy of a number of major developments, both on private and HCA funded schemes. This includes the formation of joint venture arrangements based on the risk profile acceptable and the desires of the organisation. Ken is experienced in both the investment, legal and financial aspects of this process together with innovative construction methods and design management. A qualified Chartered Building Surveyor and Quantity Surveyor, Ken is a Director of Cyril Sweett Limited based in Leeds and a regular contributor to Inside Housing journal on construction cost and development matters (www.insidehousing.co.uk).

Experience

Residential and regeneration:

  • Little London, Beeston Hill and Holbeck PFI – major refurbishment and redevelopment scheme bid (£225m)
  • Hollingwood Court redevelopment – reconfiguration, sale and reconstruction of 111 units of social housing units (£4.9m)
  • QEQM PFI Margate – provision of 220 units of new build staff accommodation (£11m)
  • Crystal Court redevelopment – demolition and reconstruction existing flatted development (£1.5m)
  • Leeds staff accommodation – purchase and refurbishment of 207 units in listed buildings and conservation area (£5m)
  • Stock survey and reinvestment – survey and life cycle planning for 11,000 units (£12m pa.)
  • Skipton redevelopment – successful mixed use development bid for various sites across Skipton (£60m)
  • Gateway to Oldham PFI – technical advisor on major residential refurbishment (£120m)
  • Leeds independent Living PFI project – technical advisor/independent certifier (£54m)
  • Hull Gateway HMR – technical advisor to Hull City Council on this major housing market renewal project (£400m)
  • Strategic Sites, Leeds – 190 units of residential accommodation delivered over six sites – employer’s agent/cost consultant (£18m)
