Justine Leach

Justine Leach

Justine is a landscape architect and urban designer, and is the director of her own consultancy practice. She was formerly an associate director with EDAW London and has experience in a wide range of urban design, masterplanning, and public realm design projects, predominantly in the urban environment, especially urban housing, parks and civic spaces. She has also advised extensively on public space competitions. Justine enjoys the challenge of designing, delivering and promoting landscape architecture and urban design of the highest quality, within the complexities of existing environments and communities.

Justine has worked as a member of Transform South Yorkshire (TSY) Design Panel for the past three years, and is also an active member of both the South West design review and enabling panels for Creating Excellence the regional regeneration and renewal centre. She is regularly involved in both the design and delivery of innovative design training, most recently with Andrew Beard the Design South Yorkshire 100 series for TSY during 2007/08, and for three of the housing market renewal (HMR) pathfinders. She has also developed a design leadership training programme for Creating Excellence south west. She has delivered training workshops through both the CABE enabling programme and independently to client groups relating to Building for Life and Manual for Streets.

Justine has been an enabler for the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) for eight years, and is also a CABE Space enabler. In this capacity she has helped numerous organisations formulate the vision, project briefs and development process for a variety of masterplanning and regeneration projects in the UK. She is an accredited Building for Life assessor, carries out BfL evaluations for TSY and other local authorities and assists CABE with training accredited assessors.

Justine spent the early part of her career working was as a Landscape architect in Hong Kong and Malaysia working on residential, commercial and leisure projects, and also in China developing the masterplan for Pudong Central Park in the new business district of Shanghai.
