Isabel McAllister

Isabel is a Director of Consulting at Cyril Sweett and has been working on sustainability in the built environment for ten years.

Isabel specialises in costing sustainable buildings. She has co-authored a number of published documents, including Putting a Price on Sustainability and Costing energy efficiency improvements in existing commercial buildings, which were extremely well received across the construction and property industry.

Isabel also acts as 'sustainability champion' on major schemes, facilitating deliverable sustainable solutions and is regularly commissioned to deliver specialist training. She has provided technical and strategic advice to a range of clients including project funders and procurers, developers, PFI consortia, contractors and regulators. Typical commissions include:

  • Sustainability champion for complex projects, including refurbishment of listed buildings, high rise office towers university buildings and BSF programmes
  • Tailored sustainability training for both technical specialists and lay people – ranging from one hour to one day
  • Published research documents and articles, outlining the costs and benefits associated with various building upgrades
  • Sustainability strategies and planning statements for large schemes, including strategic housing and city centre redevelopment
  • Client advocacy work on behalf of WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme)
  • Assessing the implications of new sustainability/performance policies (SPD) on project viability and advising on optimising standards
