Andrew Rumfitt
Professional Background
As a qualified planner and economic development consultant Andy has been providing advice on how to grow local and regional economies for more than 18 years. With experience from the public and private sectors he advises on strategy and projects that help to develop economic opportunities for firms and residents. Andy has Masters degrees from Cambridge and Reading Universities and a prize winning MBA from Imperial College, London University.
He is a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Institution of Economic Development in addition to being an Associate Member of the Market Research Society. He was appointed to the Policy Council of the Town and Country Planning Association in 2009.

- Securing £6 million for an Olympic construction training centre in 2008
- Championing design by helping the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) to deliver identity and placemaking workshops across all organisations responsible for the Thames Gateway Delivery Plan in 2007 and 2008
- Reviewing the eight City Region Development Plans for the Northern Way in 2006
- Helping to secure planning permission for the £200 million Docklands Light Rail (DLR) extension to Stratford International in 2005
- Helping 25,000 small firms and winning the New Media Age award for the most effective public sector website in 2004
- Founding two service businesses and trading happily through the worst recession in 70 years
Expertise
Andy's areas of expertise are:
- Appraisal, feasibility and assessment of the economic impact of developments
- Development and planning advice including submissions of planning applications and drafting of Statements of Case for major infrastructure projects
- Profiling the likely demand for development sites and developing future property offers for growth areas
- Developing urban and regional policy including local economic assessments and regional strategies (eg. the Mayor of London’s Outer London Commission)
- Advising on urban enterprise initiatives (eg. City Growth, Local Enterprise Growth Initiative, Local Area Agreements)
- Securing European and other competitive funding to fund infrastructure and training
- Identifying best practice for Local Government and the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA)
