Adam Mactavish

Adam is a Director of Consulting at Cyril Sweett and has been working on sustainability in the built environment for the last ten years. Most recently Adam has led Cyril Sweett's work on achieving exemplary performance standards in new housing. This includes:

  • Advising CLG on the technical and commerical implications of the Code for Sustainable Homes and alternative definitions of Zero Carbon Homes
  • Working with the HCA to assess the cost implications of different housing standards covering, space, design and performance
  • Development of sustainability strategies for major housing and commerical developments
  • Assessing the implications of new design and performance policies (SPD) for city centre development on project viabiltiy and advising the coucil optimising the standards
  • Development of resource efficiency tools for WRAP covering, project procurement, design, waste management planning and reporting

Adam has worked extensively with both public and private sector clients as both a technical advisor and sustainabiltiy champion facilitating the development of robust, ambitious yet deliverable solutions.

Prior to joining Cyril Sweett, Adam prepared Westminster's SPG on Sustainable Buildings (which won the RTPI 2003 Award for Planning for Sustainability). He has also authored best practice handbooks on sustainability appraisal and undertook appraisals of Regional Planning Guidance and the Regional Economic Strategy for Yorkshire and the Humber.
